To assist Geir Ove Titlestad
Casing Exit through Q-125 5" our initial simple tests were done with what we had on hand in our shop which was a 1/4" round PDC (bevelled), a sharp pointed PDC, and a custom carbide mill used to open 2.7" to 3.7" 13 Chrome seats.
General Results were:
1/4" Round PDC took a broad cut and because of the chamfer on the edge it took a .010" and .015" cut to create a chip. We believe the work piece was work hardened from this.
Sharp Point PDC cut well with .005", .010" and .015" depths and did not work harden the base material.
The SDBR was run in a milling machine setup (not single cutter) and performed very well with ease of cutting and no work hardening of the base materials.
